The Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball team has been on a roll lately. They thrilled all their fans by outlasting the Connecticut Huskies in six overtimes during last week’s Big East Tournament and was awarded a number three seed in this week’s NCAA National Championship Tournament. I see many of you are searching for information and photos of the Syracuse Orange basketball team and it’s players.
With that in mind and after receiving a comment and some encouragement by a fellow Orange fan, I have created a special print to commemorate the first ever (as far as I know) Orange Out! at the Carrier Dome from last February in a Big East game against the Georgetown Hoyas. Own a piece of Syracuse Orange Basketball history! GO ORANGE!

The last assignment created some interesting discussions on a couple of the blogs who participated. The main jest was what made a picture a photograph versus a snapshot and does every photograph have to tell a story.
This lead to a new challenge put forth at Shrew’s Daily Shutters. Please, read carefully what she is asking for and how to submit your images. Don’t want them getting lost!

Snapshot or Photograph? You make the call!

Took advantage of a sunny and warm mid-March morning to walkabout my hometown of Baldwinsville, New York. It’s been a long snowy winter so to get such weather this time of year is a blessing. One, I couldn’t pass up photographing. Still too early for growing things but a good time to see what’s been doing since last fall.

The New York State Canal Corporation has been working on Lock 24 during the off season.
The New York State Canal Corporation has drained Lock 24 to do some maintenance and upgrades for the upcoming boating season. Never seen the lock empty before. Most interesting.
Next, I walked uptown, marveling at the beautiful blue sky. Wanted to capture it but, to do so, I’d need something…

A renovated red brick building sets off the brilliant blue sky of late winter.
I kept heading up towards my old high school. Reminiscing as I walked past the building and through the sports fields which made up a large part of my youth. As I came upon the fleet of school buses, I spied a very important safety device…

A safety mirror gives a wide angle view of the fleet of parked busses.
It was good to get out, breath the fresh air and stretch my legs. It was good to get reacquainted with my town through my viewfinder.

Baldwinsville goalie Nick Leader (30) stops West Genesee's Adam King's (4) shot on goal. Baldwinsville's defensemen Mark Bellucci (4) gets there a little late to help during the New York State Section III Boys Ice Hockey Championship game. West Genesee won 3-2.
Within 2 hours of returning from Orlando, Florida, last weekend, I was photographing the New York State Section III Boys Ice Hockey Championship game between the Baldwinsville Bees, my high school Alma Mater, and historical hockey power, the West Genesee Wildcats. Though Baldwinsville scored first and held a slim 1-0 lead after the first period, West Genesee pressured Baldwinsville’s Senior goaltender Nick Leader until they built up a 3-1 lead in the third period. Baldwinsville did score late in the third period to make it close but never got another good chance to tie it.
I enjoyed following the Baldwinsville team during the last part of their season. I learned a lot about shooting sports along the way, too. Baldwinsville will lose a very talented Senior class this year. I look forward to next season to see how the team’s underclassmen grow into new roles as starters.

I could not have picked a better place to look for Storytelling photo opportunities than at Walt Disney World. A place built from the legacy of Walt Disney. To review, a storytelling photograph has a beginning, middle and ending just like a movie.

Expedition Everest looms over Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The Discover River leads you into this photo as you follow it to the bridge and then on to Expedition Everest. Expedition Everest looks like a real mountain instead of a man-made structure housing a thrilling roller-coaster ride, doesn’t it?

Journey into Imagination Kodak Picture Spot
Over the years, the Kodak Picture Spots have become cliche but most are put in places that do tell a story. In this photo, the Picture Spot sign becomes part of the story leading into the Journey Into Imagination pavilion area featuring a waterfall which defies gravity.
